Tales from the Road

Glass Museum & Waterfalls

September 15, 2022

We have another first for life in the camper—we have a sick child. Grant has been sick the past two days. Thankfully, he is feeling better tonight. Yesterday, we took it easy. I think everyone was in need of a rest day. Ken took Charlie, Miles and Higgins for a waterfall hike after work. They found a ton of salamanders on the trail!

Today, we ventured out to the Corning Museum of Glass. So much glass! I think our favorite parts were the giant marble run and the glass blowing demonstrations. We watched the glassblowers make a glass pumpkin and one of the trophies for the Watkins Glen Nascar Race. So fascinating! We saw a variety of glass art pieces, glass from the past 35 centuries, the largest glass pumpkin, and an exhibit on all the uses of glass in our world.

Tonight was dinner at one of the local breweries, Grist Iron Brewing Co. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect with live music in the background. The boys also enjoyed playing a skee-ball game with their new glass marbles!

Tomorrow is our last day in the Finger Lakes. Our time has gone so fast! We are hoping to get in the Watkins Glen Gorge hike tomorrow. We head out Saturday morning for Wellesley Island State Park.Â
